what I have been up to recently.
This page was inspired (maybe too much) by one of my mentors Derek Sivers.
Around 2 years ago, a friend of mine suggested that I apply to work at a Wedding DJ agency in LA as an assistant. I had no idea what DJing was but since I needed a job, I just dove into it. Right now, I am honing with this craft and DJing regularly at corporate events and weddings around California. DJing is not my favorite thing but that is what I have to do now. This experience is teaching me how to love what I do instead of doing what I love.
While learning more about DJing, I came across an interesting musical genre called Amapiano, which is a subgenre of electronic music originating in South Africa. This style is highly influenced by local and cultural sounds. My YouTube channel is curently focusing on Amapiano DJ mixes, so let me know what you think about it. If you would like to support, here's my Patreon page.
Here's one of my mixes:
I got inspired after seing Derek Sivers' website.
I have to admit that my site is almost a copy of his. I like the minimalism in it.
The idea of creating a page just by writing things in a .txt file is just mindblowing for me. Right now I am getting deeper in HTML and CSS. That's how I am designing this blog.
If you want to learn programming too, I recommend the website W3 Schools. Everything I did here was learned there, and it is free.
Guitar is my main musical instrument, and I have been playing it for over 15 years. After moving to LA, I slowly reduced my frequency of practice to a point where I became unable to play songs that were fairly easy for me.
A year ago, I got an opportunity to start teaching guitar to kids at the Hollywood Recreation Center, and I have been doing this since then. Teaching kids has been incredibly gratifying to me, and I am also finally getting back on track with my favorite instrument. Right now I am focusing on the greek modes and improving my soloing.
