My grandfather passed away today. He was the light in the room, the warmest person I knew. He always put others before himself and never wanted anything in return. He was kind, generous, faithful, and loving. His happiness was tied to the happiness of the people he loved. He had good humor, was a hard worker, and a competent man.
He never asked for anything. I’m sure he had his struggles, but he faced them alone. That strength helped me understand, more clearly, what unconditional love really is.
His death has been teaching me. I want to carry his traits with me and keep him alive inside of me, not in memory alone, but as a way of living and loving. He inspired me.
I understand now that life isn’t about what you accumulate or achieve. It’s about what remains in the people you touch. And this isn’t something we do in hopes of being remembered. We do it because we feel drawn to it, because it feels right.
Living this way is an act of generosity and a quiet form of gratitude. It is a way of saying thank you for the experience of being alive. This impulse is natural, and it’s why humanity continues to exist.
The real meaning of life is to carry the good from those who came before us and pass it forward.
We are here to honor who brought us here, to love without conditions, to give, to experience, and to share what we learn along the way. Life is love. Life is giving. Love endures.
Today, we hold the traits of the people before us, their experiences, knowledge, and habits. Everything we are came from someone else. We are the building blocks of this ongoing chain.
We are constantly evolving, and every single person plays a role in that movement. Let’s make sure the foundations we leave behind are strong, so they can support something lasting, the beautiful tower called humanity.
